  3. works include frescoes depicting the lives of
  4. St Stephen and St John the Baptist in Prato
  5. Cathedral 1452-66. He also painted many
  6. altarpieces of Madonnas and groups of saints.
  7. The painter and biographer Giorgio Vasari
  8. gave a colourful account of his life
  9. including how, as a monk, he was tried in the
  10. 1450s for abducting a nun (the mother of his
  11. son Filippino).
